Ellen Page, hands down. I didn't even need to look at the lists. Usually I think about these comparisons in terms of the better films on the lists, but this one I had to go by the 2 actors' performances. I think Jennifer Lawrence is a GOD AWFUL actor. Terrible. SO, thats why I went with Page =)
ReplyDeleteNo love at all for Lawrence's work in Winter's Bone, The Hunger Games or Silver Linings Playbook?
DeleteNone whatsoever for the first two. Hunger Games was really bad and so was she; Winter's Bone was a huge disappointment for me and I don't see why she was nominated. And I haven't seen Silver Linings.
DeleteI clicked on this post going... Jen Lawrence for sure... who could Courtney pick (short of Kate Winslett) that could compare... then I saw Ellen Page and now I'm in a battle of wills.
ReplyDeleteI love Lawrence, she's lovely, aggressive and so good. Page is cute, adorable and at times too much for her own good. But I think I have to stick with Ms. Jennifer 'I can make you fall in love with me blonde or brunette' Lawrence. She's so good.
I figured this one might divide people. Lawrence is now at the same point career wise that Page was few short years ago. She is the toast of young Hollywood and can easily pull off both drama and comedy.
DeleteI will say that Page can be as equally aggressive as Lawrence if the role calls for it. Hard Candy and An American Crime are examples of this.
This is tough. Both of them are great actresses. I just Jennifer Lawrence in The Silver Linings Playbook and she was great in that film.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably going to say Ellen Page since she's been in more films and has yet to give a bad performance.
Page is definitely consistent when it comes to giving solid performances. Regardless of whether or not the film itself is good, you can usually count on Page to deliver.
DeleteEllen Page. Jennifer Lawrence is not bad but there is only 1 film that she had memorable performance in(yet to see Silver Linings) Ellen Page is great in Juno, An American Crime, Hard Candy and even Peacock.
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree with you in regards to Page, I would argue that Lawrence has actually had three memorable performances to date (Winter's Bone, The Hunger Games, and Silver Linings Playbook).
DeleteOne look and it's Ellen Page.
ReplyDeleteEllen Page - most definitely. While Jennifer Lawrence started off great with Winter's Bone she's had a few roles lately that just haven't suited her well. Though I hear she's been getting a lot of positive acclaim for Silver Linings Playbook so there is still good things yet to come from her.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, as her status continues to grow, Lawrence will avoid making films like House at the End of the Street.
DeleteThis is tough as I'm not a big fan of either of them, but will have to go with Ellen Page based on Super, in which she was very funny.
ReplyDeleteLoved Page's work in Super. She steals every scene she is in.
DeleteEllen Page! she was great on Juno.
ReplyDeleteThe only Lawrence movie I've seen is Winter's Bone but that's an amazing enough performance for me to vote for her.
