  1. I would say Vincent D'Onofrio but John Hawkes is really hot right now. He can be funny, brooding, and do all sorts of things. I'm glad he's getting some awards buzz.

    1. Hopefully Hawkes gets a nod for his work in The Sessions, I thought he did a great job in that film.

  3. Sorry, Vincent, but no one is better than John Hawkes.

  4. I have to go with John Hawkes on this one. D'Onofrio has an interesting style, but he doesn't have the same range as Hawkes for me.

    1. I am actually surprised that Vincent D'Onofrio is not getting more love. I think he has shown tons of range over the course of his career. He was even fantastic in films that I did not care much for (e.g. The Cell, Full Metal Jacket).

  5. I like Hawkes but damn, I've REALLY disliked the last two films of his I saw. Winter's Bone I found to be an absolute bore (I've yet to meet an actual person who enjoyed it, I swear only critics laud it so highly) and MMMM was so disappointing.

Also, is it me or does he play an acoustic guitar in almost every film he's in? Just a random observatio...

I'm gonna have to go for Vincent D'Onofrio.

    1. No love for either Winter's Bone or MMMM? I was a big fan of both of those films.

  6. This falls into the 'what have you done for me lately?' category, for me anyway.

And with that? Hawkes. Hands down.

  7. See I missed out on this one. It would be John Hawkes for me, loved him in Deadwood and in MMMM he was great too.
