The Liebster Blog Award

The Liebster Blog Award is making its rounds and our blog recently received three nominations to participate in it.  Since this blog-a-thon has had a healthy rotation, we’re going to take a slightly different approach.  First, we’d like to thank Anna at Defiant Success, Dave at KL5-Film and Andy at The Film Emporium for their nominations.  Anna, kudos to you for answering all 55 questions asked of you!  We’re going to focus on rules 1 and 2 only and mix and match the questions posed by Anna, Dave and Andy, and leave it at that since so many blogs have already received Liebster Award nominations. Here are the rules we followed:
1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves
2. Answer the 11 questions the person who has given the award has set for you (we mixed and matched the questions from our three nominators.)

11 Things About Me (JBT)

  1. I hope to write a book or a screenplay someday.
  2. I’m a huge fan of the NBA and professional tennis.
  3. I could eat pasta everyday and be perfectly happy.
  4. I have to start each morning with a cup of coffee or I just don’t feel right (it’s an addiction, I know!)
  5. If I could have one superpower, I’d pick teleportation.
  6. I love watching re-runs of The Golden Girls and Frasier.
  7. I used to write poetry regularly, but just sort of stopped about 5 years ago and I don’t know why.
  8. I’m currently in Summer Olympics withdrawal.
  9. I love board games.
  10. One of my favourite musical artists is Bob Marley
  11. One of my favourite books is All the King’s Men.

Dave’s questions:

-What's your favorite movie decade?

That’s easy! Without question, my favourite movie decade is the 80s.  The 80s is when I started watching movies and really grew to love them.  I still love 80s movies to this day, which is what inspired my regular monthly feature – The 80s Movie Library – and My Favourite 80s Flicks and The Best of John Hughes lists on Letterboxd.

-What is a movie you feel is unduly praised?

The Reader.

-What is the proper punishment for people who talk on their cell phones in a movie theater?

A nice, hefty fine would be nice.

-Which deceased or retired director do you wish could make just one more movie?

Alfred Hitchcock

-Are there any movies people are surprised you like?

People are sometimes surprised that I like Weekend at Bernie’s as much as I do.  No matter how many times I see it, it still makes me laugh out loud.

Anna’s questions

-What TV shows do you watch?

I watch Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, House of Lies, Shameless and True Blood, just to name a few.

-Anyone you’re hoping makes a comeback soon?

Gene Hackman

-Name someone in Hollywood you find overrated.

Cameron Diaz

-Your most prized DVD?

Believe it or not, Big Trouble in Little China.  I love that movie!

-Do you watch movies in theatres more or at home?

I tend to watch more movies at home.  I don’t get out to the theatre as often as I’d like to, but I did see more movies in theatres this summer than I did last summer.

-Dog or cat person?

Neither.  I like fish.

Andy’s questions:

-What was the film that made you feel the most terrified watching?

Halloween.  It still creeps me out.  Whenever I hear the music, a chill runs down my spine.

-If you were to add one film to last year's Best Pic nominees to make up 10 what would it have been?

-What is your favourite animated film?

-What is the best film you have seen in 2012 so far?

The Dark Knight Rises

-Is there a film you feel completely alone in liking/disliking?

I dislike Children of Men, but many people I know really like the film.

  1. Oh, I sort of had it easy with the questions. Thanks to her brief blogging hiatus, Stevee over at Cinematic Paradox got 99 questions. *shudder*

    1. Whoa, 99 questions! Crazy.
