  1. Damn, that's really hard, and you didn't include my favorite films from each of these guys (28 Days Later and Manhunter respectively).

After some deliberation, I give it to Cox for being the first cinematic Hannibal Lec(k)tor and for doing Super Troopers.

  2. Hmmm good call. I agree with SJHoneywell. Cox just pips it but love Gleeson in 28 Days Later and In Bruges. Need to see The Guard still.

  3. I choose Gleeson, just for his role in In Bruges.

  4. For me its Gleeson. He is fantastic in In Bruges and i love Gangs of NY. The Guard was also good and i bet not alot of people saw that film. Plus, he's got Braveheart on his list. Easy.

Cox's list just doesnt have movies on it that, to me, top Gleeson's.

  5. Two very different actors ... I'd go with Cox - if just for "The 25th Hour"

  6. Gleeson. Just because I have seen more movies where Gleeson stands out for me. I can't say that for Cox probably because I haven't seen a lot of his work.

  7. Shit. That is tough. I love both of these guys. Probably Brian Cox because I still think he's the better Hannibal Lec(k)tor and the fact he's willing to do all sorts of silly shit like Super Troopers.

I still think the Harry Potter franchise dropped the ball by not putting him in the last few films as Rufus Scrimgeour because when I read Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince for the first time. Once his character is introduced, Cox immediately came into my mind to play that character who is supposed to be an old-school badass.

  8. Wow this is such a hard choice. These 2 may be the best character actors working right now. I think I have to give Gleeson the slight edge because he picks better films (In Bruges, Gangs of New York etc.).

  9. Brendan Gleeson has my vote. Even if only for In Bruges.

  10. Although Gleseson is a great actor, I find I get more excited when I see Cox in a film. His work in Manhunter and L.I.E. is outstanding.

  11. Oh man this is tough. I suppose I'd have to go Gleeson. I've enjoyed his work more as a whole, whereas Cox is kind of choosing crappy movies lately.
