  1. Johnny Depp has been my favorite actor for many years and he still is. However, Brad Pitt has a more versatile range of roles. I wouldn't say that Depp is the same in his movies, but they just tend to be quirky, that's why he seems to go in the one direction. Plus, his recent choices of films (The Tourist, POTC 4) could have been better.

I can't answer your question though. They both are great actors.

  2. Got to be Pitt! Much better range, better films and just keeps getting better. Depp is good but neither the films or the performances are generally as good as Pitt's.

  3. I might've said Depp at one point, but now there's no doubt I prefer Pitt. Depp is almost a parody of himself at this point (though I admit I haven't seen Rum Diary or The Tourist), while I still enjoy most everything Pitt does.

  4. Wow, now that's a duel! Like someone said before, I would have chosen Depp in the past, but Pitt is more versatile and interesting nowadays! I love them both!

  5. I like Depp fine, but he's become in many ways a parody of himself.

I've always had a lot of respect for Brad Pitt. Early in his career, he could easily have been an American version of Hugh Grant, punching out a lame rom-com every nine months with a decent film every now and then. Instead, he has routinely taken challenging and interesting roles.

  6. I like both actors, but I am a big fan of many of the movies Pitt has starred in. Fight Club, Se7en, Inglourious Basterds, Moneyball, etc. But, to be fair, Depp is cool in my book for his portrayal of Hunter S. Thompson, and his dedication to that role.

  7. I find both their work interesting, but as everyone has mentioned here, Depp should choose some more serious films. Even though Rango was great.
Pitt has delivered some outstanding performances, but Depp is the one I somehow "like" better.

  8. Damn... that is tough. I like Depp and he's certainly far more quirkier. Yet, I'm going to go with Brad Pitt.

Based on his role as Chad! I just love that character!

  9. Phips3:51 pm

Brad Pitt for came down to:
True Romance, Snatch, Inglourious Basterds, Seven, and Fight Club
Edward Scissorhands, Donnie Brasco, Fear & Loathing.

and the first 5 are much better in my opinion.

  10. This is a heavyweight fight if ever there was one!

The one thing holding Depp back for me in recent years is his continuing bromance with Tim Burton. While the characters from their collaborations are quite different, they all seem to taste like the same vintage from the Kooky Vinyard.

Thus, I give the edge to Pitt.

  11. This goes to Brad Pitt easily, in my opinion. Depp has gotten lazy in recent years with his film choices. On the other hand, Pitt has been busy giving masterful performances (TAOJJBTCRF, The Tree of Life and Moneyball). On top of that, those 3 movies were actually really good and Pitt produced them. He is becoming as good of a producer as he is an actor (he also produced The Departed and Kick-Ass).

  12. Before I would have said Depp, but nowadays it would have to be PItt. He has versatility and range. I mean, the guy went from Assasination of Jesse James to Burn After Reading to Benjamin Button.

  13. While Pitt has more films that I tend to watch over and over, I still would pick Depp. Yes, he has spent way too much time with Tim Burton but I think his "non-eccentric" roles have been solid for the most part. Pitt has taken over in terms of choosing stronger films overall though.

  14. Depp is cooler. Pitt has been more versatile in recent years.

We'll have to go to the tiebreaker: Pitt is married to Angelina Jolie, so I'll have to give the nod to him.
