Movie Marketing Monday

Friends with Benefits

Timberlake, Kunis, Clarkson, Harrelson and a reference to Semisonic’s hit “Closing Time”...where do I sign up?

The Zookeeper

Why do I get the feeling the pitch for this film started with: “Think of Night at the Museum but in a zoo...”

  1. Hi CS...

I just want to make some comment on the following trailers.

First, The Zookeeper teaser is actually pretty good. I thought it was going to be something lame and childish. Apparently, the marketers are going for something a bit different. Plus, I kind of have a soft spot for Kevin James who I did like in Paul Blart: Mall Cop. And Roger Ebert was right about the film.

Before I go to Friends with Benefits, there was another trailer with a similar premise that's coming out early next year. It's Ivan Reitman's No Strings Attached with Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher.

While the look seems different, I had a hard time watching because of Kutcher and whatever scenes he had with Natalie. Man, there was no chemistry except for the scene of Natalie fighting him. It looks fuckin' awful.

Then when I saw Friends with Benefits. That seemed not only funnier while I was into the chemistry between Mila Kunis & Justin Timberlake. That is actually a good trailer.

  2. @thevoid99 - I will have to keep an eye out for the No Strings Attached trailer. While I will see almost anything Natalie Portman is in, I am still on the fence about Ashton Kutcher. I cannot even remember the last film I saw him in that I really liked.

As for Kevin James, he has built a strong following in recent years. As far as his films go, Hitch is the only one that have I enjoyed so far. Disliked both Paul Blart and the Chuck and Larry film.
