  1. Just a dumb question for a first-time attendee at the TIFF...is there any way one obtains tix to screenings as a 'member of the general public'? (If so, how?)

  2. There are many ways that you can see a film without buying advance passes. Regular tickets for the general public go on sale Wednesday September 3, 2008 at 7am. You can order tickets online at: http://tiff08.ca/boxofficeinfo/tickets/default.aspx (be sure to click the buy ticket link). You can also go to any of the film festival box offices downtown and purchase tickets. If a film you really want to see a film that is sold out, you can also try to get “Rush” tickets. For “Rush” tickets, you basically have to show up at the theater about an hour and a half before and join the “Rush” line. 5 Minutes before the film starts, the staff will see how many empty seats are available (sometimes people opt not to see a film at the last minute, or trade-in tickets, etc.). The staff will start to admit people in the “Rush” line based on the number of seats available. Full info can be found at the film festivals website: http://tiff08.ca
